While your Will covers how to split up your assets, it doesn’t delve into the nitty gritty details of your financial picture. By giving your executor all the pertinent details for each of your financial accounts, you’ll make his or her job a lot easier and less stressful. Knowing where each account is located and the contact person for the account(s), will help your executor immensely. It’s also a good idea to let your financial professional(s) know who your executor is in advance to make everything run smoother.
If someone ever needs to take over your financial matters at some point this document will also be extremely helpful for them. It’s a good idea to store this document in a safe place and let the person you’re charging with handling your finances know where it is located if/when the time comes.
